AR 110 - Exploration of the Visual Arts (3)

Students will engage in an exploration of what is art? What is creativity? How does art manifest in daily life? This course answers these questions through observations, studio, and gallery museum visits, hands-on construction, and practice and expression. Students will practice fundamental principles of drawing and color theory through foundational exercises to gain a level of proficiency. The students will gain an appreciation of elements of design and composition in order to create their pieces. The students will also write an introductory paper-ideas expressed in this paper will be the basis of the final paper. Discussion and participation are critical components of the grade. 2015 CORE: Creativity & Culture, Transform. 2020 CORE: Liberal Arts, Arts.
