CR 420 - The Chicago School (3) The origin of American criminology lies within the pioneering sociological work that took place at the University of Chicago during the early twentieth century. This course will examine efforts by early sociologists at the University of Chicago to explain social change and social organization, as well as how the theories and methods generated from these efforts served as the foundation for the development of American criminology. Prerequisite: SO 101 .
