ED 643 - Law & Politics for Human Rights & Social Justice Education (3)

This course offers an introduction to the legal codification of human rights at both national and international levels and focuses on how social justice ideologies impact education, economic, political, social, and cultural structures within society. It examines how formal and informal educators and advocates promote human rights and influence policy both locally and globally. Students will study and analyze instances of successful and unsuccessful change within the field of human rights during the past century. The course also examines the role of the child/youth advocate/educator within legal, political, and social action frameworks and prompts the learner toward greater self-awareness in regard to equity and social justice in personal and practical settings.
