HC 310 - Healthcare for the Elderly (3)This course is designed to examine the services, clients, and caregivers comprising the continuum of long-term care. It describes the evolution of the concept, its current organization, and the basic financing sources enabling its operation. An introductory course, it focuses on practical issues facing healthcare managers and also highlights the experience of informal caregivers who play an essential role in the continuum. Major regulatory bodies are identified as voluntary, federal, and state agencies that attempt to ensure quality of care. A personal touch on the subject is gained by students through caregiver/client interviews and site visits to continuum service centers. RN to BSN students must have advisor approval. Prerequisite: HC 305 /NU 305 .
