ED 645 - Education in Conflict & Post-Conflict Settings (3)This course helps the student understand how to develop learning environments that prevent and ameliorate conflict leading to violence. It helps the student answer questions such as: How does education fit within larger efforts to regenerate social support networks and community wellbeing? What do schools and communities learn from conflict? What broad-based approaches to education and community development will facilitate healing, resilience, and the rebuilding of trust in post-conflict settings? Students will analyze a variety of conflict and post-conflict situations and identify ways in which education can contribute toward reconciliation and add value in transforming conflict-generating inequalities at their roots. Additionally, students will gain valuable knowledge and practical skills for working in conflict and post-conflict educational settings. FA.
