Cybersecurity Minor

Program Requirements

The Cybersecurity Minor requires a minimum of 22 credit hours including the following courses:

• CS 116 - Problem Solving with Algorithms (2)
• CS 120 - Introduction to CS I (4)
• CS 222 - Data Structures (4)
• CS 321 - Networking (3)

•  

• Take three of the following courses:

• CY 301 - Intro to Cybersecurity (3)
• CY 305 - Network Security (3)
• CY 310 - Ethical Hacking (3)
• CY 320 - Wireless & Mobile Security (3)
• CY 330 - Firewalls & E-Commerce Security (3)
• CY 340 - Principles of Cryptography (4)
• CY 350 - Compliance & Evidence (3)
• CY 360 - Digital Forensics & Analysis (4)
• CY 370 - Cloud Computing & Virtual Systems (3)

Minor Note

• At least 18 semester hours in a subject area are required for a minor.
• A minimum of 9 hours in the minor must be earned at Avila University.

  • At least six of these hours must be numbered 300 or above. (Note: If the minor is in Biology or Chemistry, only four (4) of the 9 semester hours in the minor at Avila must be in courses numbered 300 or above.)

• A minimum of 9 hours must be unique between a major and a minor. 
• A grade of “C” or better must be earned for all graded courses required for the minor.
