Business Administration, B.A.


The 120 credit hour Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration offers engaging, real-world, applied learning from faculty who are working in their field. Students gain a deeper understanding of human behavior in the workplace and study buying behaviors, investment objectives and risks, employment-related litigation and how to improve managerial and interpersonal effectiveness. Students also gain professional knowledge in finance, marketing, accounting, human resources and other related fields.

Required Core Courses


Students in the Business Administration, B.A. degree must take the course listed below as part of their Liberal Arts core requirements regardless of whether the core is otherwise met:

Concentrations


Students must choose one of the following concentrations to complete the Business Administration, B.A. degree.

Interdisciplinary Business Concentration (18 credit hours)


Students must choose 18 credit hours from all courses in the School of Business Bachelor of Arts programs. 

Electives (minimum of 12 credit hours)


Program Requirements


Students must achieve a minimum grade of “C” in all courses required for the major.

Technology Requirements


Computer competency will be demonstrated by successful completion of CS 210  within the major.

Business Administration Outcomes


Graduates for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration will be able to:

Outcome 1.

Demonstrate knowledge of local and global business organizations through the study of major disciplines within the fields of business. (AC 201 , BU 310 BU 323 BU 330 BU 346 , BU 498 , EC 202  or EC 203 )

Outcome 2.

Apply methods of quantitative data analysis to support organizational decision-making processes. (AC 201 , BU 330 , BU 498 EC 202  or EC 203 )

Assessment


Summative outcomes for the Business Administration major in the School of Innovation are assessed through a written business plan and an oral presentation of that plan to outside professionals in the capstone course. (BU 498 ) In addition to the two Business Administration outcomes, the four School of Innovation outcomes are assessed through the business plan as well. The summative assessment occurs yearly. Formative outcomes are assessed in individual courses as students move through the program. Each year data is gathered for one of the two outcomes. After four years, faculty review both formative and summative data results for both Business Administration outcomes at once.
