Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Studies Certificate

The 53 - 58 credit hours Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medical Studies is designed for students who typically fall into one of two categories: i) ‘academic enhancers’ that want boost their GPA for medical school applications or ii) ‘career changers’ that have decided to look into pursuing a career in medicine. The certificate is aimed for the ‘career changers’ that are either currently in the workforce and/or have completed their undergraduate degree in a non-science, non-pre-health major but now looking to attend medical school.
The full certificate is typically completed in 4 semesters. Less semesters are possible depending on credit for transfer courses. To receive the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medical Studies, students must complete a minimum of 36 credit hours of courses at Avila University.

Outcomes
Upon graduation, a student in the Pre-Medical Studies Certificate should be able to: Outcome 1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the basic principles of biology, chemistry, and physics. (BI 111 , BI 112 , CH 137 , and PH 231 ) Outcome 2. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills for content related to the health profession (CH 216 , CH 342 ) Outcome 3. Apply scientific knowledge to solving problems (All included courses) Assessment
The outcomes for the Pre-Medical Studies Certificate are assessed through a combination of examination results, term papers, oral reports, and mentor evaluations in the courses listed above. |
