History Minor

History minors are expected to meet outcomes 1) Knowledge and 2) Theory, which are assessed in a course-by course basis as outlined in the history major.

Program Requirements
Candidates for a minor in History must complete a total of 18 hours in the minor area to include:
Introductory History Courses: 12 credit hours
- Any four (4) lower-division (100 or 200 level) history courses (either American or World history.)
Intermediate History Courses: 6 credit hours
- Any two (2) upper-division (300-level or above) history courses (either American or World history.)
Minor Note
- At least 18 semester hours in a subject area are required for a minor and at least 6 of these hours must be numbered 300 or above.
- A minimum of 9 hours must be unique between a major and a minor.
- A minimum of 9 hours in the minor must be earned at Avila University.
- A grade of “C” or better must be earned for all graded courses required for the minor.
