Kinesiology, M.S.

The Master of Kinesiology degree focuses in the areas of sport and exercise science, strength and conditioning, and therapeutic exercise. The Master of Science degree in Kinesiology consists of 31 credit hours.

Admissions


Criteria for Regular Admission

The admission requirements for the MSK program can be found on the Admissions page. MSK students must also meet the following: 

  • Have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate or graduate-level coursework.  Students with a GPA less than 2.75 or at least 2.50 will be admitted provisionally.   Students admitted provisionally to the MSK program must achieve a 3.0 GPA on the first nine credits in their program of study. 
  • The admissions committee will consider all applications to evaluate any additional prerequisite courses needed. 
  • Submit official transcript/s of the bachelor’s degree as well as any graduate-level coursework. 

Outcomes


Upon graduation, a student majoring in Kinesiology should be able to:

Kinesiology Knowledge: Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of sport and exercise science including important concepts and theories, relationships, and perspectives, as well as the ability to recall this knowledge in the future. 

Kinesiology Applications: Learn how to use knowledge by developing particular skills, managing complex projects, and developing the ability to engage in various kinds of thinking (i.e., critical, practical, and creative).

Kinesiology Integration: Make connections and relate kinesiology to other areas of life. 

Multimedia Communication: Employ a multimedia approach to communication, collaboration, and presentation of scholarly work. 

Assessment


Outcomes for the Master of Science in Kinesiology degree are assessed through signature assessments and research action projects as indicated on course syllabi.

If regulatory requirements are met, F-1 international students are eligible to apply for CPT for this academic program.
