International Student Residency Leadership Certificate

Required Core Courses


Students will need to complete a minimum of 8 residency events, most will need to complete 10 based on the length of the degree.

Outcomes


  • Create effective leadership strategies by analyzing cultural contexts, assessing strengths and weaknesses of approaches, and synthesizing innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate team dynamics and conflicts to apply appropriate motivational techniques, communication styles, and problem-solving methods.
  • Develop and implement plans for continuous personal and professional improvement through self-reflection, peer feedback, benchmarking, and habit formation.
  • Analyze complex leadership challenges to generate creative solutions by reframing problems, brainstorming innovative ideas, and critically assessing options.

Assessment


Students would take RD 301 or RD 601 International Graduate Student Residency courses. During those courses students would participate and complete appropriate assignments during each meeting/session where assignments are tied directly to course and program outcomes. Faculty and other related staff will evaluate students’ disposition while in session - i.e. - are they actively participating in individual and group work, are they attending lectures promptly and completely, when asked to present or participate they do eagerly, etc. Students may also be given exams to assure understanding of concepts shared during residency events. Students will earn a CR/No CR grade based on faculty evaluation of student disposition.
