Athletic Coaching Leadership Certificate

The Graduate Athletic Coaching Leadership Certificate consists of 21 credit hours of coursework focusing on learning agile coaching skills to increase individual, team, and/or organizational effectiveness. The Athletic Coaching Leadership Certificate can be taken independent of enrollment in any graduate degree program. The hours for KN course designations could count toward the Master of Science degree in Kinesiology.

Required Courses (21 hours)
Graduate Certificate Admissions Policy
Please see the Admissions page of this catalog. In addition to those requirements, applicants must also meet the following requirements: - a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in any discipline; or
- an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in any discipline.
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree to be eligible for admission. While there is no GPA requirement for entry, students must earn a grade of “B” or higher in every course. Failure to meet this requirement will result in dismissal from the certificate program. Outcomes
Athletic Coaching Leadership Certificate students will be expected to meet the following educational outcomes: - Employ Athletic Coaching Leadership principles, theories, and concepts to transform self-coaching and cultivate effective organizational perspectives.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to assess and implement motivational strategies.
- Apply Athletic Coaching Leadership interventions at individual, team, and organizational levels to systematically influence positive changes that align with organizational goals.
- Influence high performance through strategic communications that build rapport, clarify expectations, and encourage accountability.
Assessment
Summative outcomes of the Athletic Coaching Certificate are assessed through end of semester exams and/or projects established in the chosen collection of courses where students will apply learning to their work with a team, organization, or business. Formative outcomes are assessed during each required course and reinforced in elective courses as students move through the program. These outcomes are outlined in course syllabi. |
