The Department of Psychology offers a certificate in Child & Adolescent Counseling. This certificate requires 12-credit hours and can be taken independent of enrollment in any graduate degree program. Transfer credit is not allowed for those students pursuing only the graduate certificate.

Child & Adolescent Counseling Certificate Course requirements
Outcomes
- Understand the factors that influence children’s and adolescents’ abnormal development.
- Identify and use appropriate therapeutic interventions with children and families.
Assessment
The outcomes for the graduate psychology certificate programs will be assessed through a combination of written examinations and assignments and skills based practice. These outcomes will be outlined in detail in individual course syllabi.
Note
If a student wishes to attain both counseling certificates, nine unique hours must be taken in each program.
