Couples & Family Counseling Certificate

The Department of Psychology offers a certificate in Couples and Family Counseling. This certificate requires 12 credit hours and can be taken independently of enrollment in a graduate degree program. Transfer credit is not allowed for those students pursuing only the graduate certificate.

Couples & Family Counseling Certificate Course requirements
Outcomes
- Understand the factors that influence couples and family counseling.
- Identify and use appropriate therapeutic interventions with couples and families.
Assessment
The outcomes for the graduate psychology certificate programs will be assessed through a combination of written examinations and assignments and skills based practice. These outcomes will be outlined in detail in individual course syllabi.
Note
If a student wishes to attain both counseling certificates, nine unique hours must be taken in each program.
