History Minor

History minors are expected to meet outcomes 1) Knowledge and 2) Theory, which are assessed in a course-by course basis as outlined in the History major .
Candidates for a minor in History must complete a total of 18 hours in the minor area to include:

Program Requirements
Introductory History Courses: 6 semester hours
- Any two (2) lower-division (100- or 200-level) history courses (either American or World history).
Intermediate History Courses: 9 semester hours
- Any three (3) upper-division (300-level or above) history courses but at least one upper-division course must be American history and at least one upper-division course must be World history.
Advanced Courses in History: 3 semester hours
Minor Note
- At least 18 semester hours in a subject area are required for a minor.
- A minimum of 9 hours in the minor must be earned at Avila University.
- A minimum of 9 hours must be unique between a major and a minor.
- A grade of “C” or better must be earned for all graded courses required for the minor.
