The Department of Psychology offers a certificate in Child & Adolescent Counseling. This certificate requires 12 credit hours and can be taken independent of enrollment in any graduate degree program. Transfer credit is not allowed for those students pursuing only the graduate certificate.

Child & Adolescent Counseling Certificate Course requirements
Outcomes
- Understand the factors that influence children’s and adolescents’ abnormal development.
- Identify and use appropriate therapeutic interventions with children and families.
Assessment
The outcomes for the graduate psychology certificate programs will be assessed through a combination of written examinations and assignments and skills-based practice. These outcomes will be outlined in detail in individual course syllabi.
Note
If a student wishes to attain multiple certificates, nine unique credit hours must be taken in each certificate program.
