Advanced Classroom Management Certificate


The 15 credit hour Advanced Classroom Management certificate is designed to prepare classroom to teachers to advance their classroom management skills and increase their awareness and understanding of their students’ diverse needs. Courses have been developed to address the most current and critical needs in the K-12 classroom. Teachers will learn how to recognize and address the individual needs of students and to create a classroom that enables all students to succeed. A 33 credit hour Masters of Arts in Education  is also available.

Admission Requirements for the Advanced Classroom Management Certificate

  • Complete all parts of the written application;
  • Submit official transcript from the institution where bachelor’s degree was earned;
  • Students whose primary language is not English are required to submit official score reports of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. The minimum TOEFL score required is 550 on the written test. 

Education Certificate Policies


To maintain enrollment, the student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in all graduate coursework with no grade below a “C.” Only one grade of “C” is accepted toward the 15 credit hour program. Only one course may be repeated one time in the entire program. Students who are unable to maintain these academic standards will be dismissed from the program.

Outcomes


Students who complete the Advanced Classroom Management certificate will meet the following outcomes:

  • Students will analyze acting-out and aggressive behaviors frequently exhibited in K-12 classrooms and identify interventions appropriate for each phase of the cycle.
  • Students will apply theory in the classroom to motivate and engage students in K-12 classrooms.
  • Students will identify childhood mental health issues in K-12 classrooms and identify appropriate interventions.
  • Students will identify characteristics of students with high-incidence disabilities exhibited in the classroom and relate them to appropriate management strategies and interventions.

Assessment


Outcomes for the Advanced Classroom Management certificate are assessed by:

  • Performance on course class assignments and key assessments as indicated on course syllabi;
  • Responses from course evaluation questions.
