The 33 credit hour Master of Arts degree in Education with a concentration in Advanced Classroom Management is designed to prepare classroom to teachers to advance their classroom management skills and increase their awareness and understanding of their students’ diverse needs. Courses have been developed to address the most current and critical needs in the K-12 classroom. Teachers will learn how to recognize and address the individual needs of students, and to create a classroom that enables all students to succeed. Also available as a stand-alone certificate (15 credit hours).

Required Courses (33 credit hours)
Education Academic Policy for Master’s Programs
Students must complete a minimum of 31 credit hours of coursework in one of the concentrations to receive a Master of Arts in Education degree. A maximum of nine credit hours of transfer work is allowed from other universities/colleges or up to 15 credit hours from Avila University. To maintain enrollment, the student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in all graduate coursework with no grade below a “C.” Only one grade of “C” is accepted toward the 31 credit hour program. Only one course may be repeated one time in the entire program. Students who are unable to maintain these academic standards will be dismissed from the program.
Outcomes
Students who complete the Master of Arts degree in Education: Advanced Classroom Management concentration will meet the following outcomes:
- Students will analyze acting-out and aggressive behaviors frequently exhibited in K-12 classroom and identify interventions appropriate for each phase of the cycle.
- Students will apply theory in the classroom to motivate and engage students in K-12 classrooms.
- Students will identify childhood mental health issues in K-12 classrooms and identify appropriate interventions.
- Students will identify characteristics of students with high-incidence disabilities exhibited in the classroom and relate them to appropriate management strategies and interventions.
Assessment
Outcomes for the Master of Arts degree in Education are assessed through course assignments, key assessments, action research projects, or field performance evaluations as indicated on course syllabi and responses from course evaluation questions.
